It appears very inefficient to shift between the many screens and settings simply to modify the current weather. Machines don't think without human programming to do as such, and because they're computer based have to be commanded through a sequence of mathematical codes. I think you want to call your buddies or even a technician to verify and diagnose your personal computer.
Your actions will choose the out come going forth within the game. It's quite possible that some complex maneuvers can be achieved without utilizing the basic controls whatsoever.
The writers know that you're either learning how to fly a true plane and require a simulator as a result of many factors like cost etc.
